up new E-mail Accounts in Outlook Express |
|
|
These instructions are for setting up new
e-mail accounts in outlook express.
If you are using another version of
Outlook the method will be very similar.
Where we refer to mydomain.co.uk, substitute your Domain Name,
including using .com, .net etc. depending on your domain name.
Open Outlook.
|
| At
the top of the Window click on "Tools", then click
on "Accounts" from the dropdown that appears. |
 |
Outlook
will open a box as below listing all your e-mail accounts.
At this point it may be worthwhile highlighting an account you
already have to obtain the outgoing smtp server, you will need
this further down in these instructions when setting up your
new e-mail account. To do this after highlighting an account
click on the Properties button, another box will appear. Click
the "Servers" Tab at the top.
Make a note of what you have under "Outgoing Mail (SMTP)",
this is what you will use as your SMTP (Outgoing) Hostname.
Click the "Cancel" button to get back to the accounts
list as in the diagram below.
|
 |
Click
on the "Add" button on the Right
A selection Tab will pop out, Click "Mail"
You will now step through the Set-up wizard (This will be similar
for all versions of Outlook)
The first box is your display Name. Enter any name in here,
This is what will appear in the "From" field on e-mails
you send as well as in your Outlook Accounts list. |

Click "Next" |
The
"Internet E-mail Address" box will be displayed
Enter the E-mail address you would like to use for this account.
This can be anything@mydomain.co.uk (mydomain.co.uk has to be
the Domain Name of the Account you are setting up the e-mail
for). |

"E-mail Server Names" box appears.
Leave "My incoming mail server is a" set to POP3
In the Incoming mail box enter "mail.mydomain.co.uk"
replacing mydomain.co.uk with your domain name
In the Outgoing mail box enter the SMTP server for your dialup
ISP. This will be the same for all you e-mail accounts. If you
do not know what this is then CLICK
HERE for instructions on how to find your Outgoing mail
server name.

The
"Internet Mail Logon" box appears.
In the Account name box enter the full E-mail address that has
been set up.
For the Catch All e-mail address we will have set this to root@mydomain.co.uk.
The Catch All e-mail address will receive all E-mail sent to
anything@mydomain.co.uk. It will not be visible in e-mails that
you send.
